José D. Bogas, CEO of ENDESA, noted that “investors are paying close attention to the technological transformation towards a more sustainable energy system.” “Companies must be competitive for their customers and profitable for the investor, and sustainability is a key factor if they want to survive in the world of the future,” Bogas added.
For its part, Josep Oliu, president of BANCO SABADELL, pointed out that the value of ESG criteria lies in “their anticipation of new risks.”
“In this, the role of banking is fundamental, and we must look at companies from two perspectives: the financial risk and also from the climate point of view,” said Oliu. “We must look for financing plans so that we can all walk the path together. path we have to travel,” he added.
Experts agree on the importance of supporting SMEs to incorporate ESG factors
José Carlos García de Quevedo, president of the ICO, assured that “public-private collaboration is essential, and we must not forget start-ups and SMEs.”
“We must be aware that the majority of companies are small and we have to put efforts into ensuring that they too can transition to a green and sustainable business model,” said García de Quevedo.
In this context, Javier Hernani, CEO of BME, He highlighted that “investors, when looking for investment opportunities, want to see that what companies do in the field of sustainability is real.”
“We are at the moment when we must move from concept to action, and to do so, new technologies must go hand in hand and accompany that process,” said Hernani.
