José Luis Bonet, president of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, awarded an honorary doctorate by the Abat Oliba CEU University

The president of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, Joseph Louis Bonet, has been awarded an honorary doctorate by the Abat Oliba CEU University (UAO CEU) in recognition of his merits in the field of Economics, Business and Commerce. During the ceremony, Juan Corona, professor of Applied Economics and honorary rector of the UAO CEU, highlighted the Bonet's academic and business career, as well as his vocation for service, developed mainly from his position at the head of the Chamber of Commerce.

In his speech, Bonet stressed the crucial role of fairs and chambers of commerce as essential public institutions for public-private cooperation and the economic promotion of Spain. "In a country of SMEs like Spain, the work of trade fairs in terms of innovation and Internationalization of companies is essential"Bonet stated, who also alluded to the international food fair, of which he was president for 20 years (2002-2022). He described Alimentaria as "one of the most important instruments available to the Spanish agri-food sector," highlighting its ability to boost SME exports through international connections with distributors and commercial agents.

Bonet concluded his speech by describing Alimentaria as "a success that belongs to Barcelona, Catalonia and Spainand its agri-food sector, which is a winning sector worldwide."

At the same event, he was also awarded an honorary doctorate. Miquel Roca Junyent, founding partner and honorary president of the Roca Junyent law firm, in the framework of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Abat Oliba CEU University.
