José Luis Bonet opened the day «Vocational training under debate”, organized by El Confidencial together with the Chamber of Spain, Banco Santander and Cesur, with the co-financing of the European Social Fund, with the aim of discussing the growth of Vocational Training in recent years and the driving factors of this boom.

Bonet has also highlighted the importance of continuing to give prestige to Vocational Training in society: “We have to convince families of the advantages of this training modality due to its high employability rates, its low school dropout rate and the recognition and demand, increasingly, on the part of companies.”

The day also included the participation of Clara Sanz, general secretary of Vocational Training of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training; Luis Martínez-Abarca, director of the Professional Training Area of ​​the San Pablo CEU University Foundation; Ana Maria Linares, academic director of IFP Madrid; Ana Guillo, director of Cesur Ciudad Lineal; Gonzalo iturmendi, director of Peoble Global Centers of Excellence of the Cosentino Group; Marisa Bermejo, director of Sanitas Campus FP, and Veronica Marco, Director of Talent at ALSA.

The speakers have explained that this 2022-2023 academic year, more than one million students are enrolled, however, vocational training faces numerous challenges such as the entry of women into industrial and technological paths, the effective development of the opportunities provided by new Vocational Training Law (Lomloe) or the challenge of obtaining more curricular flexibility to alleviate the talent gap.
