Jury of the DHL Atlas export awards highlights innovation, sustainability and ecommerce in the new scenarios of foreign trade

To succeed abroad

The jury of the VIII edition of the DHL Atlas export awards, which recognize the work of Spanish SMEs that embark on the adventure of operating in the foreign market, met last Monday, November 13, to evaluate the applications presented.

In this year's Atlas Awards , organized by DHL Express , 270 applications were received from 141 companies, recognizing the work and effort of Spanish SMEs in internationalizing their businesses . The jury, once again under the honorary presidency of Xiana Méndez , Secretary of State for Trade, has undertaken a significant deliberation process. The jury is comprised of César Tello , CEO of Adigital; Julián López Arenas, Director of Competitiveness at the Spanish Chamber of Commerce; Beatriz Reguero Naredo , Director of the State Account Area at CESCE; María Carrasco Linares , Secretary General of the Exporters Club; Nicolás Mouze , Director of Marketing and Sales for DHL Express Spain and Portugal; Pablo López, Director General of the Leading Brands of Spain Forum; and Marta Valero , Deputy Director General of Financial Promotion for Internationalization at the State Secretariat for Trade, ICEX.

Nicolas Mouze of DHL Express highlighted the difficulty of selecting the winners, as the number of applications has increased in recent years. "Every year we see that companies have more patents and are looking for new ways to implement them and also to access new markets," he noted.

For her part, María Carrasco, from the Exporters Club and a member of the jury, emphasized that the DHL Atlas awards have a long tradition and serve as an "incentive and a boost" for the winning companies. "It's a recognition of their internationalization strategy and encourages them to continue growing and promoting the 'Made in Spain' brand around the world," she stated.

Beatriz Reguero of Cesce , also a member of the jury, commented that the awards make a significant contribution to the international sector and agreed that they are an "incentive" for exporting companies. "It's a path to success for companies because of the competitiveness they face and the growth it facilitates," she said.

Marta Valero of ICEX highlighted the importance of internationalization for Spanish companies. She noted that this internationalization is becoming increasingly structural and contributes to companies' strategic plans as a factor of resilience. "In 2022, the foreign sector accounted for half of our country's economic growth," she recalled, in a context marked by uncertainty, geopolitical challenges, and economic obstacles.

Finally, Julián López of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce emphasized that the DHL Atlas Awards recognize the efforts of Spanish companies to internationalize, their search for alternative markets, and the diversification that remains essential for Spanish companies to compete globally. "Internationalization is key for companies, both SMEs and large corporations," he affirmed, echoing Pablo López from the Forum of Renowned Spanish Brands: "The DHL Export Awards are a major benchmark in the world of internationalization today."

The DHL Atlas export awards recognize the work of Spanish SMEs that embark on the adventure of operating in the foreign market. The jury members highlighted the importance of innovation, sustainability and e-commerce for companies that want to succeed abroad.
