The Madrid Chamber promotes business cooperation with Albania in a forum of opportunities

A booming market with potential for Madrid companies

The Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Madrid today organized the Business Forum “Business and investment opportunities in Albania”, with the aim of promoting commercial relations between both regions.


 

The meeting, held at the headquarters of the chamber institution, included the participation of the president of the Chamber of Madrid, Angel Asensio; the Minister of European and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania, The Hasans; and representatives of companies and institutions from both countries.

 

In his speech, Asensio highlighted Albania's strategic location in the Western Balkans, which makes it a “logistics hub” in the area and a platform for access to third markets with 20 million consumers. In addition, he has highlighted the country's attractiveness as an investment destination, thanks to its competitive and qualified workforce, its favorable taxation and its incentives for strategic investments.

 

The business forum ended with a debate session in which attendees were able to express their doubts and questions about the investment possibilities in the Balkan country and with a networking meeting with the representatives of the delegation of nine Albanian companies.

 

The president of the Madrid Chamber has highlighted the main areas where Spanish companies, and especially those from Madrid, can contribute their knowledge and experience: tourism, energy, innovation and digitalization. In this sense, he has highlighted the upward trend of Spanish investment in Albania in recent years, with companies such as Meliá, Zara, Mango, Porcelanosa and Enagás already present in the country.

 

For its part, Jaime Montalvo, international director of the Chamber of Spain He told us: "Today we held a business meeting at the Madrid Chamber of Commerce with a delegation headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Albania, a business delegation that has come to Madrid to explore opportunities for collaboration with Spanish companies."

 

The Chamber's representative summarized the main opportunities this market presents for Spanish companies: "Albania is registering extraordinary figures in some sectors. It's a growing economy. It's a candidate country for joining the European Union, and our business presence there is gradually increasing. Sectors such as tourism, infrastructure, renewable energy, agriculture, and mineral resources are of particular interest to us. Authorities from our delegation explained the investment climate and the numerous incentives available. We believe that, given the very positive political relations that have been consolidating at the prime ministerial level in recent years, the business sector will receive support, and the Chambers of Commerce are here to assist companies in seizing this opportunity."

 

The Business Forum included a presentation on the business climate and the possibilities for bilateral cooperation, in which the director of Economic Diplomacy of the Albanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Silvana Leskaj the president of the Tirana Chamber of Commerce, Nikolin Jaka; and the International Director of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, Jaime Montalvo.

 

The forum ended with a networking meeting between attendees and representatives of the delegation of nine participating Albanian companies, with the aim of establishing business contacts and exploring new business opportunities.

 

The organization of this business forum is part of the commitment of the Madrid Chamber to the internationalization of the Madrid business fabric.
