CETM urges the Government to take emergency measures in response to the escalating fuel prices due to the crisis in Iran

La Confederación Española de Transporte de Mercancías (CETMhas formally requested to Government of Spain the urgent activation of a direct aid package to mitigate the economic impact of the armed conflict in Irán, which has driven up energy costs.

During the session, the employers' association expressed its deep concern about the "sharp and continued increase in fuel prices" recorded in recent days. According to the organization, this volatility is generating a unsustainable economic pressure on the cost structures of transport companies, which could compromise the stability of the national and international supply chain.

Proposals for bonuses and direct aid

Given the seriousness of the situation, the CETM has proposed the adoption of exceptional measures, taking as a reference the solutions applied in 2022 after the invasion of UcraniaThe requested package of measures includes:

A minimum bonus of 25 cents per liter made out of fuel.
Direct aid per vehicle to compensate for the additional operating costs.
Review of the transport price indexing formula to adjust the real weight of diesel fuel.

Regarding indexation, the employers' association proposes an increase of 10% per type, establishing a fuel cost weight of 40% for heavy transport, 30% for vehicles up to 16 tons and 20% for light transport.
