Encouraging data for the sector
This positive result has been driven mainly by the strong performance of the live plant, whose exports increased by 12% to reach 166 million euros.

The Spanish export of flowers and live plants has experienced a 13% growth in the first quarter of 2024, compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching a total of 203 millones de euros.
Within the living plant segment, the notable increase of exports of houseplanta 21 % more and a total value of 25,5 millones de euros. Despite this progress, the outdoor plant remains the most exported category, with 79 millones de euros or with a 8% of growth. It is also worth highlighting the 10% growth in foreign sales trees and shrubs, reaching the 36 millones de euros.
La cut flower has also shown a positive trend in the first quarter, with a del% increase 23 in their exports, until totaling 24 millones de euros. Within this segment, the roses, whose exports grew by 20 % until the 3,5 millones de euros, as well as the clavela 31,5 % more and 2,8 millones de euros.
The other two subsectors of the export of flowers and live plants, foliage and bulbs, also recorded positive results. Foreign sales of foliage rose to 11 millones de euros (+5%), while those of bulbs they reached the 2,4 millones de euros.
These positive data reflect the resilience and dynamism of the Spanish flower and live plant sector, which has known how to adapt to circumstances and take advantage of new market opportunities.
