The exported volume stood at 363 tons
Today the 29th EU-Japan Summit is being held in Brussels. In the fruit and vegetable field, Spanish exports to this country amounted to 6 million euros, which represents 0,04% of the total exported in 2022. Until April of this year , export was 1,9 million euros.

In 2023 and according to the latest data updated by the Customs and Excise Department of the Tax Agency, processed by FEPEX and corresponding to the period from January to April, Spanish exports of fruits and vegetables to Japan decreased by 9% compared to the same period in 2022, standing at 1,8 million euros. The exported volume stood at 363 tons, 27% less.
Considering the last full year, 2022, the value of fruits and vegetables exported by Spain to Japan, which amounted to 6 million euros, represented 0,04% of the total, which stood at 15.930 million euros.
Comparing Japan with the rest of the non-EU countries, what was sold in Japan only represented 0,18% of the total, which amounted to 3.192 million euros.
In 2022 and compared to 2021, fruit and vegetable sales to Japan totaled 1.521 tons, 38% less and the value stood at 6 million euros, 35% less.
At the Brussels summit, the president of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, representing the EU, will meet with the Japanese Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida and review progress made in the implementation of the connectivity partnership, the green alliance, the Digital Partnership. EU-Japan relations are based on a strategic partnership agreement and a free trade agreement (Economic Partnership Agreement) that came into force four years ago.
