Aplimatec is preparing to open its doors for the first time next November, but before that, it was presented in Alcoy and Barcelona to more than 200 textile companies.
APLIMATEC, the International Trade Fair for Technical Applications of Textile Materials, is a unique event in Spain dedicated to the promotion and marketing of textile and non-textile materials for industrial sectors. Its first edition will be held in November and aims to bring together more than 150 manufacturing companies, with a net exhibition space of 5.000 square meters.
APLIMATEC stems from Feria Valencia's strategy to incorporate industrial trade shows into its calendar. This event will bring together textiles for applications in construction and civil engineering; agriculture and fishing; high-tech textiles for clothing and footwear; automotive; sports; and uniforms and workwear.
The International Congress on Technical Textiles will take place during the event, where topics ranging from product certification to innovations in the application of technical textiles and smart textile materials will be discussed. This biennial event will also be complemented by technical workshops aimed at professionals.
Aplimatec will be divided into two areas: MATEX, which includes the production of raw materials and auxiliaries and semi-finished products, and APLITEC, which will concentrate the final products.
Presentation to the sector
APLIMATEC was presented last May to business owners in the sector in Alcoy and Barcelona, with the attendance of more than 200 companies.
The presentation in Alcoy was attended by the Undersecretary of Science and Technology of the Valencian Regional Government, Javier Quesada, who showed his support for the trade fair initiative. Furthermore, the president of ATEVAL, Manuel Taverner, stated that Aplimatec will be a boost for the Spanish textile industry in its diversification efforts, as well as a way to promote Spanish production of technical textiles and disseminate information about their applications.
The presentation by Aplimatec served to introduce the Textile Technology Observatory, recently created by AITEX. This observatory will provide the industry with a constantly updated overview of the technological areas that impact textiles, with a specific focus on technical textiles.
In short, Aplimatec responds to the needs of an increasingly important sector of the textile industry: the manufacture of textiles for technical applications, which in just a few years will account for a third of total production. It is a high value-added product where R&D plays a key role.
