An event of international stature
The Valenciaport Hackathon has had the support and sponsorship of the Port Authority of Valencia, Cosco Shipping Lines Spain, Grupo Romeu and the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation.
From November 20 to 27, the first Valenciaport Hackathon, an international event organized by the Valenciaport Foundation under the project H2020 COREALIS whose objective was to obtain innovative solutions to improve efficiency and sustainability in the Port of Valencia.
El Valenciaport Hackathon has had the support and sponsorship of the Port Authority of Valencia, Cosco Shipping Lines Spain, Grupo Romeu and the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation who have also proposed the 4 challenges to be solved in this hackathon and which were related to the circular economy in ports; optimization of road transport operations; improving ocean fare processing and international trade facilitation for port operations.
Of the 29 participating teams, which had the advice and support of mentors and experts, 8 reached the final and had the opportunity to present their projects to the hackathon jury and to the public who followed the live broadcast via YouTube. The jury then retired to deliberate and announced the three winning teams.
The main prize, a financial award of 3.000 euros awarded by the Juan Arizo Serrulla Foundation, was awarded to the project “Book a Slot”, a solution that optimizes container delivery/collection operations by road by searching for matches to carry out double operations.
The second prizes, 1.000 euros in cash contributed by the association Propeller Valencia and for the technological platform ALICE, were obtained by the teams «AIRates Technologies» and «ChainGO Freight». The solution of “AI Rates” is an intelligent platform that assists freight forwarders in the processing of data containing shipping company rates. For its part, the solution of “ChainGO Freight” is a blockchain-based collaboration platform that includes electronic signature and payment solutions to facilitate international trade.
It is planned that the event will be repeated next year with new challenges and, if possible, in a semi-in-person format.
