Havana, Bogotá, Mexico and Argentina are the next Fira de Barcelona events in Latin America

It will hold events on smart cities, technology, hospitality and tourism

With HostelCuba and three new editions of Smart City Expo, which are added to the one that took place in March in Brazil, the institution strengthens its presence in the South American market in order to contribute to boosting the local economy and the internationalization of Spanish companies exporting their fair experience.

From tomorrow until Thursday, two of the most important shows in the international portfolio of Fira de Barcelona of this 2023. It is about Smart City Expo Latam Congress, the leading competition in Latin America on urban innovation that will take place in the Mexican city of Merida, and HostelCuba, the international exhibition of equipment for hotels, restaurants and tourist services that will be held at the fairgrounds of Pabexpo, Havana.

 

under the motto "Viable Projects, Real Impacts", the eighth edition of Smart City Expo Latam Congress It will have the participation of more than 300 cities and 200 exhibitors, including companies and entities. The event has also scheduled a congress where more than 300 experts will take part who will debate the main challenges in 6 areas of knowledge: urban spaces, digital transformation, climate change and sustainable territories, smart destinations, connected society and cities that care.

 

Meanwhile, the fourth edition of HostelCuba will be its largest yet, occupying the entire Cuban fairgrounds. This year's event, which will focus on sustainable and inclusive tourism, will feature over 90 exhibiting companies, 80% of which are international – half of them Spanish – from countries such as Canada, Chile, United States, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Panama, Dominican Republic or Switzerland, and the presence of 3.000 buyers.

 

The International Business Director of Barcelona Fair, Ricard ZapateroHe emphasizes that "Fira de Barcelona is a bridge between Europe and Latin America, uniting projects, ideas, and companies to foster innovation and business and strengthen ties between two of the world's most dynamic markets." This fact, according to Zapatero, "reaffirms the role of the trade fair as a key player in revitalizing these regions and their cities, as well as contributing to the opening of new markets for our exhibitors."

 

Exporting Smart City Expo to the world

 

Other notable events on the Latin American calendar will be Smart City Expo Bogotá and Smart City Expo Santiago del Estero. The first will be held from May 31 to June 2 at the Corferias venue in the Colombian capital with more than 70 speakers and 60 companies, while the second will return to the Argentine city after its first call last year, from the 14th to the June 16 at Santiago del Estero Technological Node, bringing together 80 experts and more than 150 governments and institutions. 

 

To these local editions of the world's leading smart cities event, Smart City Expo World Congress which will take place next November in Barcelona, ​​is joined by the one that took place in Curitiba (Brazil) in March, which brought together more than 12.000 visitors and the participation of 120 speakers.

 

Apart from the activity in Latin America, Fira de Barcelona's foreign action is completed this year with 3 more events: Smart City Expo USA (October 3-4), Smart City Expo Doha (October 10-11) and Smart City Shanghai Expo (October 12-14). In addition, the fair institution manages two venues in China that will host 71 events this year, and will carry out other international fair support and consultancy actions.
