The public agency organized this international promotion action that, during July 3 and 7, has developed a work agenda with 26 importers and local producers, with whom they have held 35 business meetings in the main agricultural areas of the country. In addition, the Andalusian delegation visited the main fair of the sector, AgroFrest, which received, from July 6 to 8, more than 20.000 professionals at its headquarters in Legacy of La Videna in Lima.

The purpose of this mission has been, therefore, to expand the presence of Andalusian companies in the agricultural auxiliary industry sector in Peru, the third destination for sales in this sector within Latin America, where Andalusia advances with a record of exports in 2022, adding 98 million euros, thanks to a year-on-year growth of 27,8%.

During these work days, Andalusian companies have been able to present their offer to importers and distributors of inputs for the agricultural auxiliary industry, as well as to producers from the main agricultural areas of the country, such as Chiclayo, Trujillo, Ica and Lima, where they have learned first-hand about the production systems they currently use and what their needs are.

Peru, which has 7,6 million hectares with direct agricultural potential, of which it uses less than half, still has a significant way to go to continue increasing its exploited area. Thus, the country is making important efforts in this regard and, according to the National Survey of Sowing Intentions 2022-2023, it has registered an increase of 4% in new crops, which is equivalent to about 80.566 hectares.

According to reports from Andalusia TRADE-Agency for Economic Transformation and DevelopmentIn this growth framework, the export dynamism of Peru's agri-food sector is of special relevance, which is reflected in the continued growth of international sales figures, which registered an increase of 13% in 2022, so the country needs to develop systems and technologies that renew agricultural production to meet the demand for agri-food exports.

To continue moving forward, the Peruvian Government approved the National Agrarian Policy 2021-2030, with the aim of improving the country's competitive agricultural development by 36%, following values such as sustainability; more efficient use of resources such as soil, water and natural grasslands; and the development of productive and commercial technical capabilities, issues in which Andalusian companies have important know-how, backed by the productive development of our community, and can find important business opportunities.

Furthermore, Peru's policy is one of openness to the outside, So it has numerous trade agreements, including one with the European Union, which reinforces a favorable environment for Andalusian companies to expand their presence in this Latin American market.

More than 30 meetings and visit to AGROFEST

The trade mission has been developed in a hybrid format, so that four Andalusian companies have traveled to Peru to maintain their work agenda in different parts of the country, while one last has made contacts online. In total, they have established 35 business meetings with 26 top-level agents to establish new commercial ties in the main productive areas of Peru.

In addition, they have made a prospective visit to the AgroFest fair, which was held in Lima, an event organized by the Association of Agricultural Producers Guilds of Peru, which last year already confirmed to be the great experience to expand relations between Peruvian and Latin American agriculture. This professional forum, with more than 10.000 professional visitors, has been attended by the main national and international buyers and has also made it possible to establish contact with state, regional and local public bodies.

The Andalusian delegation was made up of the Almería companies Inagro Biotech and Criado y López; the Malaga-based Seragro and Sigfrido Fruit; as well as the Grenadine Molded Plastics Alber, the latter, which has worked telematically. The organization of this action by Extenda will be co-financed with funds from the European Union through the FEDER OP of Andalusia 2014-2020, endowed with a community contribution of 80%, or any other European Program that may co-finance this action.

Peru is the third market for the auxiliary industry of Andalusian agriculture in Latin America, with historical sales in 2022 that reached 10,3 million euros and a growth of 0,8% compared to the previous year, which places Andalucía as the third exporting community to the Andean country, with 16,5% of total sales (only behind C. Valenciana and C. Madrid).
