Innovation, sustainability, and local talent are driving the growth of Andalusian SMEs, according to consultant José Luis González.

González, who maintains direct contact with the region's business community, points to a "progressive growth in business volume" driven by these three key factors. According to the expert, this upward trend is allowing them to "consolidate sustainable growth and strengthen the Andalusian competitiveness in the national and international context."

 

The advisor underlines the crucial role of emerging sectors and innovative activities which act as "engines" of the Andalusian economy. Among them, he mentions green hydrogen production, sustainable tourism, and the forest bioeconomy.

With the development of these strategic sectors, the strengthening of productive capacity and the improvement in employment and productivity levels, Andalusia is positioning itself as a region with a "high growth potential in the next decade," says the strategic coach.

 

González also remembered the "remarkable transformation" experienced by the Andalusian economy in the last decade, characterized by the diversification of its productive structure and the incorporation of emerging sectors. Historically dependent on agriculture and tourism, the region has managed to diversify its economy, boosting strategic sectors such as the aeronautical industry and green hydrogen.

According to José Luis González, Andalusia has become a "benchmark in green hydrogen production," leveraging its renewable energy potential. The projects under development will enable the generation of "hundreds of thousands of tons of green hydrogen per year," with a significant impact on job creation and reduced dependence on traditional energy sources.

 

Furthermore, the region is experiencing growth in new industries with "high development potential", such as Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Digitalization and automation are driving demand for professionals specializing in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data analysis, and software development.

 

Cities like Malaga and Seville They have established themselves as "technology hubs", attracting talent and capital and positioning the region as a benchmark in innovation.

 

In the field of renewable energy, beyond green hydrogen, Andalucía is investing in circular economy projects and promoting more sustainable tourism. The integration of technology into agriculture and the rise of the forest bioeconomy also present opportunities for regional development.

 

The services sector, a pillar of the Andalusian economy

 

In terms of its contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the services sector remains the cornerstone of the Andalusian economy, accounting for approximately 75%, with tourism as one of its main sources of income. Agriculture remains significant, accounting for 6,2% of GDP, while manufacturing accounts for 7,5% and construction, 6%.

 

Despite these advances, González acknowledges that Andalusia still faces «significant challenges» compared to the national and European average in terms of GDP per capita and unemployment rate.

 

However, the strategic advisor is optimistic about Andalusia's economic prospects. He believes that "the commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the development of local talent will be key to consolidating sustainable growth and strengthening Andalusian competitiveness," despite current challenges such as inflation and... geopolitical uncertainty.
