Spanish foreign investment that wants to succeed in Africa must take into account the development of local communities

Spain – Angola

For Spanish foreign investment to succeed in Africa, it must take into account the development of local communities, as highlighted by Luis Padrón, Director General of Casa África, in his speech at the meeting "Responsible Foreign Investment and Local Development," held this morning in Madrid.

During the day, participants analyzed how to combine business opportunities in Sub-Saharan Africa, specifically in Angola, and the benefits this can bring to the investing company itself and to the development of local communities.

Humana, Casa África, the Codespa Foundation and the Autonomous University of Barcelona have been the protagonists of this meeting. Jesper Wohlert, general coordinator of Humana Fundación Pueblo para Pueblo, stated that “responsible businesses, social enterprises, inclusive value chains, and potential opportunities at the base of the pyramid are gaining increasing influence and popularity every day. Companies are aware of this and realize that by integrating social and environmental factors into their strategies, they become more sustainable and profitable in the long run.”

The director of Casa África's presentation focused on the geostrategic importance of Africa, with particular reference to Angola. Luis Padrón stated that "Spanish companies must internationalize. Africa is an attractive market due to its proximity and location."
