The main event for the fishing industry worldwide
The fish and seafood sector of Andalusia has increased its exports by 65% in the current decade (2010-2016) to reach 272 million euros.
A total of seven Andalusian agri-food companies from the aquaculture sector have participated in the Seafood EXPO Global Fair, the main event of the fishing industry worldwide, which was held in the Brussels Exposition Park (Belgium) between April 25 and 27, for which they have had the support of the Ministry of Economy and Knowledgethrough Extenda-Andalusian Foreign Promotion Agency.
This annual fair brings together the main producers of fresh and frozen fish in the world, as well as other products derived from fishing, so the event constitutes an exceptional showcase for companies to present their quality food offering to thousands of visitors from all over the world, strengthen contact with your customers and attract new buyers.
As a sign of its importance, last year the Seafood EXPO Global Fair It brought together 1.664 exhibitors representing products from 80 countries, attended by more than 22.000 visitors from 143 different nations.
The relevance of the fishing industry Andalucía is reflected in the value of its exports, which in the current decade (2010-2016) has increased by 65% to reach 272 million euros in 2016, which placed it as the fourth largest exporting community. Spain, with 7,8% of the total exported by the sector.
The visitor profile ranges from owners, distributors, purchasing managers, wholesalers to retailers in categories such as airlines, hotels and restaurants, cruise lines, fast food, hospital or school catering. The organization of this action by extend will be co-financed with funds from the European Union the PO FEDER of Andalusia 2014-2020, endowed with a community contribution of 80%.

Particiapant enterprises
The companies that have participated with extend in the Seafood EXPO Global Fair They are Oni Foods Overseas, Picoteo, Roman y Martos, Ubago (Málaga); Mariscos Méndez, Pesasur (Huelva); and Sisal Import Export (Seville). All of them have been grouped in a joint pavilion located in Hall 8 of the venue. Along with them, four other Andalusian companies have also been present, located between the stand of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment; and independent stands.
The Andalusian fishing and seafood sector has started the year improving its export figures, so that between January and February 2017 it sold products abroad worth 38 million, 26,9% more than in the same period of 2016. This growth exceeds that registered at the national level by 13,3 points (13,6%) and keeps Andalusia fourth in the ranking of exporting communities in the sector, with 7,6% of the total.
The provinces of Cadiz (55%) with 21,2 million euros and Huelva (21,2%), with 8,2 million, led the Andalusian exports of these products until February. They also highlighted Malaga (12,2%) with 4,7 million, in third place, and Seville in fourth, with 6,3% of the community's total sales (2,4 million).
Furthermore, the main countries that received Andalusian exports of fish and seafood are, in this order, Portugal, with 24,5% of the total (9,4 million); Italy, with 23,7% (9,1 million); and Germany, , with 6,9% (2,7 million) and a growth of more than double compared to the same period of the previous year (+159%). Ecuador, also receives 6,9% of the sales of the Andalusian sector (2,6 million); while the Seychelles account for 6,8% (2,6 million).
