Continuing with its launch planning under the new GPRS technology, which began with the presentation of the T65, it now shows three new models.
The Ericsson T66 weighs just 59 grams, setting a new record for the lightest tri-band mobile phone. It's the smallest phone Ericsson has ever designed. Despite its compact size, the T66 boasts all the features you could ask for in a cutting-edge mobile phone, such as EMS multimedia messaging. It's a truly global phone, operating on all three GSM bands: 900, 1800, and 1900. Its standby time is up to 150 hours. It also incorporates the WTLS v2 protocol, which enhances security for online transactions via WAP.
The Ericsson R600 is another new model. Its design combines elegance and style. It features dual 900/1800 MHz bands, GPRS connectivity, and a very light weight of 80 g. It boasts a standby time of up to 200 hours and includes a chat function. A practical portable hands-free headset is among the standard accessories included.
Ericsson will launch these two terminals during the last quarter of 2001 and they will be available in all markets in the first months of 2002.
The third model is an improved version of the current R380, from which it borrows basic elements such as the large screen hidden in the flip-up keyboard. The Ericsson R380e's most notable improvements over the current R380 include WAP 1.2.1 and a new feature that will boost mobile e-commerce: the WTLS v2 protocol for greater security in financial transactions via WAP.
