La International Organisation of Wine and Vine (OIV) has awarded the prize for the best work of the year in the category of 'Monographs and Specialized Studies'to the publication of Cajamar titled "High-end wine in Spain. On the path to excellence". The award ceremony took place at the Belém Cultural Center in Lisbon, where the coordinators of the work, Carlos Moro, Raul Compes and Vicente Sotes, received the award.
The work highlights the recent evolution of the Main Spanish brands and wineries specializing in high-quality wines, as well as opportunities in the global market. It also compares Spain's experience with that of other countries with a greater winemaking tradition.
During the ceremony, Raul CompesThe director of the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Zaragoza emphasized the importance of the wine sector adapting to the demands of climate change and new consumer expectations: “With this book, we aim to inspire more wineries, entrepreneurs, and winemakers to embark on the path of producing exceptional, high-end wines.” He added that the sector's sustainability can only be guaranteed through “quality and excellence,” elements that define high-end wines as pillars of “social and cultural development.”
The work was previously presented at the Barcelona Wine Week 2024 and seeks to strengthen the brand of Spanish wines in a sector in which, according to the authors, there is still room for increasing added value and consolidating a solid image that will attract buyers willing to pay for a high-quality experience.
