Extenda generates interest in exports among the Andalusian business community
Up to 309 Andalusian firms have participated in conferences organized in the eight provinces, which seek to encourage the community's commercial activity abroad.
La Extenda Andalusia Network, which has the objective of activating 1.400 Andalusian companies in the international markets, has organized eight information days during the last two weeks of February and first of March, one in each Andalusian province, in order to bring closer the opportunities that are generated in selected international markets in Europe (United Kingdom and Poland), Asia and the Middle East (China and the United Arab Emirates), Africa (Morocco) and America (United States and Mexico)and focused on the productive sectors characteristic of each area. In this way, it has been possible to advise a total of 309 Andalusian companies.
Under the idea of providing solidity to this commitment and strengthening the Andalusian business fabric abroad, Extenda-Andalucía Export in Foreign Investment has had the collaboration of various associations or business organizations from each sector, which have carried out fundamental work to make firms see the potential of seeing beyond our borders and being part of the international trade, as well as with the support of the offices of the Extenda Foreign Network in the selected countries during the conference.
El CEO of Extenda, Arturo Bernal, meant the importance of designating the key markets in each of the priority sectors of each province that have been analyzed on this occasion, such as "the importance of the development of the Almería agricultural industry in Morocco, Cordoba jewelry in the Emirates, the teaching of Malaga Spanish in Poland or the processed Jaenense agri-food products in China”. Likewise, he highlighted “the generation of opportunities for the Granada biotechnology industry in U.S., Sevillian construction in Mexico, the Huelva fruit and vegetable sector in United Kingdom, or of Brexit in Cádiz".
Furthermore, Arturo bernal has highlighted the objective pursued by the new Andalusian Network, “focused on increasing the weight of the foreign sector in the GDP of Andalusia with the consequent generation of economic activity and employment, which allows us to overcome the effects that the crisis of the COVID-19 is having on the economy.” In turn, the CEO thanked “the collaboration of all the business associations and organizations that, together with Extenda, work to promote commercial activity and its projection, current and future, through its expansion into international markets".
Eight key days

In the second week, from February 22 to 28, the agri-food processed sector in China was presented in Jaén, with the collaboration of landaluz; In Granada the biotechnology industry in the United States, with the support of the Health Technology Park; in Huelva the fruit and vegetable sector in United Kingdom, together with Freshuelva; and in Seville the construction industry in Mexico, with the help of Ceacop and Fadeco.
As the last session of these days, held on March 3, it was presented in Cadiz the market of United Kingdom with its new peculiarity assimilated to Brexit, encouraging the Cádiz business community not to give up exporting to this country due to the new conditions resulting from the process. For this reason, this day was multisectoral in nature and had the support of the Brexit Office in La Línea, as well as with the collaboration of the Integrated Territorial Investment (ITI) in Algeciras.
In this way, Extenda has sought to generate interest in exports among the Andalusian business community, showing the benefits that its services could generate in international markets and thus working towards the general objective of increasing the export base of Andalucía.
Almería and the auxiliary industry of agriculture in Morocco
On the day of Almería, together with the Tecnova Foundation, the auxiliary industry of agriculture was highlighted as a sector of interest for exports to Morocco, a market where the agricultural sector accounts for 19% of the GDP and where more than 4 million jobs linked to this industry are generated. Currently, Morocco, through the 'Generation Green 2020-2030' strategy, is betting on the introduction of technology, the modernization of machinery and the implementation of agricultural engineering and consulting.
Córdoba and the jewelry sector in the United Arab Emirates
In the province of Córdoba, the opportunities that the jewelry sector can find in the United Arab Emirates, Together with the San Eloy Jewelers Association. Malaga and teaching Spanish in Poland
On the day held in Malaga, together with the Association of Spanish Schools for Foreigners of Andalusia, the opportunities that the Spanish as a foreign language teaching sector finds in Poland, which has two headquarters of the Cervantes Institute, specific Ministry of Education programs, as well as the promotion of Eramus+ program with Spain as the first destination. Jaén and the agri-food processed sector in China
The business community of Jaén was able to address the market opportunities generated by processed agri-food products in China, a country with 1.397 million inhabitants and which represents the largest consumption of agri-food products in the world. Currently, this country occupies third place as a destination for Andalusian exports of this type of products, accumulating 11 million euros in 2020.
Granada and the biotechnology industry in the United States
At the event held in Granada with the support of the Health Technology Park, The opportunities generated by the biotechnology industry in the United States were presented, a market where the health sector, in addition to being in growth and expansion, has benefited from the commitment to innovation and investment in research, the demographic characteristics of the population that is increasingly older and requires its services, as well as the appearance of new diseases, which require studies where biotechnology is applied.
Huelva and the fruit and vegetable sector in the United Kingdom
From the province of Huelva, in collaboration with Freshuelva, the fruit and vegetable industry was highlighted as a sector of interest for the British market, which currently has Spain as the main supplier of fruits and vegetables, in addition to representing the third most important market for Andalusian exports. The relevance of this market for Andalusia will remain over time, due to the dependence of the United Kingdom on foreign markets due to its low production of this type of products in the face of the strong demand it has. Looking to the future, market niches are detected in ecological products, proximity and in the professionalism of the sector, providing certificates such as BRC or IFS.
Seville and the construction industry in Mexico
At the event held in the province of Seville, together with Ceacop and Fadeco, the opportunities that the construction industry in Mexico can find were presented. This country is currently developing an important 'Infrastructure Plan', which will promote major improvements for the country and which will depend directly on investment in the construction industry. In turn, many of these projects will arise from multilateral tenders, so coordination between companies will be essential.
Cádiz and the new requirements assimilated to Brexit
The last day, held in Cádiz in collaboration with the Brexit Office Line, focused on evaluating the impact of Brexit on international commercial activity with the United Kingdom, establishing a multilateral nature to the event that included the entire Cádiz business community. On this occasion, companies were encouraged to maintain their activity in the British market, explaining and facilitating the mechanisms they should put in place for marketing.
