The Region of Murcia consolidates its position in Indochina: Record exports and a new trade mission

 

This increase places Murcia as the fourth largest exporting province to Cambodia, the fifth to Laos and the tenth to Vietnam The latter country accounted for the largest share of global sales volume, with €14.4 million, demonstrating its importance to the regional economy.

 

To further boost the presence of Murcian products in the region, the Ministry of Business, Employment and Social Economy, through the Development Institute (Info), in collaboration with the Cartagena Chamber of Commerce, has organized a multi-sector trade mission that will take place from September 13 to 25.

 

Marisa López AragónThe Minister for Business, Employment, and Social Economy emphasized the importance of this initiative: "Diversifying markets within the emerging global political context is of great interest to the regional economy." The Minister also highlighted the regional government's commitment to facilitating access for businesses to "remote and emerging markets" such as those in Indochina, promoting direct contact with local importers and distributors for strategic positioning.

 

Key products and growth prospects

 

The main Murcian products exported to these destinations in 2024 were chemical products (€3.97 million), food preparations (€3 million), perfumes and cosmetics (more than €2 million), animal feed (€1.75 million), and natural stone and its manufactures (€1.13 million). In the first four months of 2025, exports to the region already exceeded €4 million, maintaining the growth trend.

Commercial action is part of the Info's Foreign Promotion Plan, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (Feder) and with the collaboration of the Chambers of Commerce of the RegionCompanies interested in participating in the trade mission have until July 30 to register on the Instituto de Fomento website.

This event will address growth projections, such as Vietnam's 6.8% GDP for this year, and the opportunities arising from regional integration and investment in neighboring countries such as Laos and Cambodia
