Santander Port Week concludes with a focus on talent management and leadership development

 

La Port Week from Santander concluded with a day focused on leadership and talent management in ports. The event, which closed in Magdalena Palace, was organized jointly by the Port Authority of Santander (APS), State Ports and the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP).

 

El president of the APS, César DíazHe highlighted the importance of this forum to "advise and support those who, in line with the Strategic Framework of the port system, are called upon to be agents of change in Spanish ports." During his speech at the Leadership School, which had as its motto Human Touch: Leading and Managing Talent in Ports, Díaz stressed the need for leadership that combines strategic vision with human sensitivity.

 

In his remarks, Díaz stated: “We must promote leadership that combines strategic vision with human sensitivity; that knows how to manage systems, but also inspire teams; that understands data, but doesn’t forget the value of intuition, empathy, and organizational culture.” He added that “having well-prepared leaders is the best way for us, as a collective, to thrive in a port environment marked by the energy transition, digital transformation, and global challenges.”

 

This fifth edition of the Leadership School It has featured the participation of prominent speakers, including Sebastián Ceria, majority shareholder of Real Racing Club de Santander; George OliveiraEx country manager from Solvay Chemicals; Enrique Fernandez, Director of Talent and Culture at Repsol; and Clara La Calle, Secretary General of State Ports.

 

In addition to the leadership day, the Port Week has addressed other key challenges for the sector, such as synchromodal logistics, the circular economy and data integration in port managementThe president of the APS described this year's edition as a "success" due to the "interest in the topics covered, the quality of the speakers, and the high level of participation." The opening of the School also included a welcome from Clara La Calle and Carlos Andradas, rector of the UIMP.
