The collaboration of CZFB with MetropolisFPLab It is a clear example of its commitment to innovation in the FP, considering it a fundamental path for learning and knowledge transfer with a direct impact on people and territories. MetropolisFPLab It is consolidated as a project of open innovation, based on the learning through real challenges proposed by companies and institutions. This innovative methodology not only enriches students' education but also contributes to reducing early school leaving.
In this edition, the Barcelona Free Trade Zone Consortium challenged students to come up with effective proposals for promote District 4.0, its ecosystem of Industry 4.0 companies and the activity of its startup incubators among young people in the Barcelona metropolitan area.
The current edition of MetròpolisFPLab has had a notable participation: 42 vocational training centers of Barcelona and its metropolitan area, Mataró, Rubí and Granollers, adding a total of 410 teams and more than 1.700 studentsAfter intense competition, the finalist teams for the CZFB challenge were "Gente de bien" from the Centre López Vicuña and "TechUp" from the Escola Pía Nostra Senyora. Ultimately, the team TechUp has been the winner, obtaining a scholarship to develop his project within the CZFB facilities.
Pere Navarro, special delegate of the State in the CZFB, emphasized the importance of this initiative by stating: “Attracting talent and responding to the new business profiles emerging as a result of the digital transformation and the advancement of the new economy is essential. Vocational training is increasingly becoming a solid future option for young people, as it allows them to respond to the real needs and challenges facing the productive sector."
For its part, Blanca Sorigué, Director General of the CZFB, expressed her satisfaction: “We are very satisfied with our collaboration with MetròpolisFPLab, as the experience over these four years has been extremely enriching for all involved. The winning teams that have been able to work on real-life cases with us and the Barcelona Free Trade Zone Consortium have mutually benefited from a fresh perspective, a different way of doing things and thinking than the one we have on our team, which has allowed us to identify opportunities and consider ways of doing things that would not have been possible otherwise."
In addition to the Barcelona Free Zone Consortium, other prominent companies and institutions have collaborated in this edition of MetròpolisFPLab, proposing challenges to students, including: the Circuit de Catalunya, Aigües de Barcelona, Maresme Circular, Hospital de Granollers, Mesoestetic, Port de Barcelona, Powerdot, Seditesa, EcoHub, Ametller Origen and MB92.
