Andalusian olive oil exports break a new record in 2016

They exceed 2.500 billion for the first time

The third destination of Andalusian exports was Portugal, with 266 million euros (10,5% of the total) and an increase of 26,6%; followed by France with 226 million and an increase of 16,9% (8,9% of the total); and United Kingdom, which with an increase of 9,3% and 108 million euros (4,3% of the total) is the fifth market.

 

 

Regarding destination markets, the top ten increased their purchases of Andalusian olive oil last year

 

 

In sixth place is China with 108 million euros and a growth of 11%; followed by Japan, with 84 million and an increase of 2,9%; and Australia which, with 63 million euros, registers a growth of 85%, almost doubling its imports of Andalusian oil. Germany, , in ninth place, registered 51 million and a spectacular increase of 95%, with which it also doubles its purchases to Andalucía, and closing the list of the top ten markets is Netherlands, with 35 million and an increase of 16%.

 

If we expand the list of destinations to the top twenty, we see that there are growing countries such as India, with 22,1 million euros and an increase of 31%; Morocco (12,3 million) with an increase of more than double (114%); or Israel (12,7 million and an increase of 62%).

 

Seville, leader, and Jaén, the one that grows the most

 

Seville is the leader in olive oil exports Andalucía with 48% of the sector's sales, reaching a turnover of 1.219 million euros in 2016, with an increase of 33%. It follows Granada which exports a value of 144 million (5,7% of the total), 3,3% less than in 2015; and of Almeria which exported a total of 13,4 million, thus increasing 1,8%. In seventh position is Cadiz, with 6,2 million and an increase of 0,1%, followed by Huelva, with 2,2 million euros exported and sales growth of 30%.

 

Companies: regularity in exports

 

In 2016 there were 527 Andalusian exporting companies of olive oil (38 more than in 2015), of which, 255 were regular exporters (6 more than the previous year), that is, almost half of the exporting firms have sold abroad uninterruptedly during the last four years. In addition, these 255 companies accounted for 83% of the community's total foreign bill.

 

Evolution of new markets
