The Director of International Business at Caja España, Fernando Barrenechea, gave a lecture entitled "New technologies in the collection of export payments," where, after reaffirming the entity's commitment to SMEs, he presented a new product that guarantees the immediacy and security of economic transactions in the international market.
In his presentation, Barrenechea explained that while credit cards as a payment method have become widespread globally, including for transactions involving significant cash outlays, the Point of Sale (POS) terminal faces a fundamental barrier: its lack of mobility, as it has traditionally been tied to a fixed telephone line. "The challenge is to take the POS terminal with us abroad," he noted. In this context, Caja España announced the launch of a mobile POS solution, offering Spanish companies the opportunity to extend cash payments to their export activities.
Pedro Becares of Proconsi, the company responsible for the product's technical development, explained that to use this tool, all you need is a Pocket PC with a GPRS modem, a Wi-Fi card, a card reader, and a receipt printer. The mobile POS terminal not only allows payment to be made anywhere in the world, thanks to its satellite connection, but also offers transparency and security to the customer, as they never lose sight of their credit card.
