Liber closes its 42nd edition at the venue of Barcelona's Grand Via, consolidating itself as a crucial tool for the export of Spanish books, with estimates indicating that the fair generates a third of annual sales abroad. With the participation of more than 250 publishers from 13 countries and an attendance of more than 6.500 people, Liber has served both to open international markets as well as to consolidate relations between national professionals in the publishing sector. Daniel Fernández, president of the Federation of Editors' Guilds of Spain (FGEE) and the Liber organizing committee, stressed: “LIBER has once again been the great meeting of the Spanish-language book sector. The negotiations opened and agreements reached will have a very positive impact on the foreign trade figures of our industry.”
The event was also a forum for discussion on the challenges facing the sector, addressing topics such as artificial intelligence, intellectual property, sustainability and printing on demand in its more than 75 sessions, with the participation of nearly 2.000 attendees.
Among the highlights of the fair, the awards were presented Liber Awards to prominent figures in culture, including the director of the Royal Spanish Academy, Santiago Muñoz, and the editor Miguel García.
