The number of tourists entering Argentina registered a year-over-year increase of 13,1 percent last September and a cumulative increase of 17,6 percent in the first nine months of the year, according to official sources.
Argentina's Ministry of Tourism stated in a press release that 175.840 foreigners entered the country in September through Ezeiza Airport, located on the outskirts of Buenos Aires and the main gateway to Argentina.
So far this year, the number of foreigners entering the country totals 1.586.609.
Brazil (43.976 travelers), Chile (21.048), the United States (18.024) and Spain (13.872) are the four countries that contributed the most tourists to Argentina in September.
In the first nine months of the year, seven out of ten travelers arrived from the American continent, while arrivals from Europe accounted for one out of four.
“We continue to grow, making progress in the task of definitively consolidating tourism as an effective instrument to guarantee equity, social inclusion, and job creation. Ultimately, to continue implementing a productive and sustainable development model,” stated the Argentine Secretary of Tourism, Enrique Meyer.
