On May 20th, the "5th International Conference on Country Risk. Europe and Latin America" took place in Barcelona, organized by Coface Ibérica (the Spanish branch of the Coface Group), considered one of the world leaders in insurance and credit management.
The conference was introduced by Xavier Denecker, CEO of Coface Iberia. The Deputy Director of Research at BBVA, the Director for Catalonia and the Balearic Islands of the Credit and Risk Finance Division (AON), and the CEO of the Coface Group addressed the following topics, respectively: economic prospects for 2003 after the war, the international crisis and the price of risk from the perspective of independent advisors, and the risk of international default in 2003.
After a question period, the day continued with a Forum on Western and Eastern Europe, with interventions by Sylvia Greisman (Country Risk and Economic Studies Department of Coface), José María Santo Tomás (partner of Estudio Jurídico Serrano Internacional) and Stephan Steder (credit manager of Camper).
It concluded with an analysis of country risk and customer risk in Latin America and the US, presented by Sylvia Greisman, as well as political, systemic, and commercial risk (Nuria Gorog) and the opportunities these countries offer from a business perspective (Alejandro Saldaña).
