Logistics Talent Forum celebrates its most powerful edition with unprecedented high attendance

With the intention of being able to create a space for debate, learning and reflection around the various needs of the sector, the VII edition of the Logistics Talent Forum It ended with more than satisfactory results.

 

The meeting in the same space of executives from leading logistics companies resulted in unprecedented high attendance. He Caixa Forum of Madrid hosted this great meeting, which was attended by international speakers and representatives of the main logistics companies, as well as various professional and training institutions.

 

Over the years, the purpose of the forum has been to create an environment by and for professionals in the sector. Gabino Diego, founder and CEO of Logistics Forum expressed it in these words: “The Logistics Forum was born with the objective of collaborating with the entire community in the permanent development of logistics professionals, offering a space for debate and reflection where knowledge is shared with a final objective: to help achieve a more competitive, efficient, sustainable and fair logistics.”

 

Conferences and discussion tables

 

In this edition, various debate tables were held given by experts and gurus with a very powerful presence within the sector. This massive event revolved around three axes.

 

The first to enter the debate was leadership and commitment. After the conference given by Imelda Rodríguez Escanciano, which commented on some of the strategic keys to leadership from authenticity, began the first table.

 

The high participation of experts from the sector makes this edition one of the most powerful and influential, consolidating FTL as the reference event in logistics talent management

 

Treating the issue of talent as a differential element for the future of a Sustainable logistics, there were great professional figures in the sector such as Massimo Marsili, managing director-southern region at XPO Logistics, Inc., Maria Luisa Romero, CEO at Palibex, German Wallet, general director of AZA Logisitcs and Fernando Anton, HR director at Stef.

 

Another of the axes and one that generated the most concern among experts was sustainable employment. After knowing some of the keys to understanding the present and building the future with the help of Silvia Leal Martín, Phd. scientific and digital speaker & communicator, the second table began. In it, the strategies and visions that various companies have in the aspect of training were announced, together with new changes such as the incorporation of technologies.

 

José Varela Ferrio, head of digitalization at the UGT, participated; Miguel Ángel Miguel, general director of transformation at Mahou San Miguel; Juan González, from Softgarden Spain; Oscar Lopez, general director of Fieldeas and Elena Diaz Alejo, manager corporate citizenship & public affairs at Samsung.

 

In the latter's words, the effort to maintain talent in companies was observed. “We focus on internal development, on having a strong company culture. “We are very digitalized and we focus a lot on the people and the culture we have to have and retain talent.”

 

The moderator of this table, Guillermo Perez Morales, technical director of operations in auxiliary services and facility services at the EULEN Group, summarized the needs of the sector in these words: “Placing people at the center, that is our challenge, but with evidence and authenticity to seek a better future” .

 

During the event, the presentation of the 2022 Study of Employment Trends and Logistics Talent of the Logistics Forum was carried out with the support of the EULEN Group.

 

Finally, and preceded by a conference of Juan Carlos Cubeiro Villar in which he discussed how to develop talent for sustainable logistics, the final table began, in which sustainable talent was the key axis. Addressing the training ecosystem for sustainable logistics, interesting speakers participated, such as the dean of the Faculty of Technology and Science at Camilo José Cela University, Tomas Garcia Martin; the director of Higher Studies at Florida Universitària, Mercedes Herrero; Gemma Monter, director of the IMF Capitol Vocational Training center; Monica Moso, head of the Center for Knowledge and Innovation at Caixabank Dualiza; and finally the president of the Spanish Association of Business Schools, Anthony Alonso.

 

They all emphasized the importance of identifying, training, and nurturing future talent. “Currently, the logistics sector is one of the areas with the highest job placement rates. At IMF Capitol, we provide practical, skills-based training tailored to the sector's demands,” he pointed out. Gemma Monter Sotor, director at the IMF Capitol Vocational Training Center.

 

The meeting in the same space of these professional figures allowed attendees not only to understand and analyze the current situation of the sector, but also to learn from their experiences and better conceive the role of logistics in society and employment.

 

Logistics Forum Employment and Talent Trends Study 2022

 

In this great edition, the presentation of the Logistics Forum 2022 Employment and Talent Trends Study was not overlooked. Marilo Peris, co-founder and director of the Logistics Forum and Director of the Logistics Business School; María Jesús Algaba Álvarez, selection director at Grupo EULEN and Monica Moso, head of the Center for Knowledge and Innovation in Caixabank Dualiza They were in charge of showing the results to the attendees.

 

The study, which has had the participation of more than 20.000 companies, has three main objectives: to advance in the face of the current challenges of the sector, to know what factors are affecting the labor market and to obtain recommendations and conclusions.

 

Carried out from the union of a documentary, quantitative and qualitative methodology, the results have shown a surprising factor, the search for attitude on the part of companies. “Companies have said that they are looking for people who have commitment, predisposition, and teamwork as key factors. They have put attitude as the number one factor,” says Peris.

 

Given this broad scenario that has collected a diversity of opinions and visions of the future, it has been possible to show how Talent is once again a key point in logistics, and the great concern and effort that different companies must make to retain it. The good reception of this event only ensures the important role it plays within the logistics sector to help show progress in the search and retention of talent, in turn strengthening the future holding of new editions.
