Students of the 25th edition of the Master in Port Management and Intermodal Transport learn about the operation of the Megaport and the Scanner of the Port of Valencia

The Master in Port Management and Intermodal Transport, co-owned by the APV and the ICADE Business School of the Pontifical University of Comillas in Madrid and directed by the Valenciaport Foundation, is a pioneering training program of its kind and within the Spanish maritime port sector.

The students of the 25st edition of the Master in Port Management and Intermodal Transport Last week, they participated in various activities aimed at familiarizing them with the realities of safety and environmental issues in the port sector, modules taught by Federico Torres, Head of the Security AreaEnvironment and facilities of the Port Authority of Valencia.

 

First, the students traveled to the area South of the Port of Valencia to observe the operation of one of the scanners in the program CSI (“Container Security Initiative”) implemented to establish customs controls at the point of origin and prevent terrorist acts, as a consequence of the attacks perpetrated in U.S. In 2001, this scanner has the capacity to analyze up to 20 containers per hour, detecting double-bottomed containers, organic matter, as well as all types of metals.

 

 

 

Of the 25 editions held in Valencia (Spain), the Master's program has been taught in its international edition in the countries of Panama and Colombia.

 

 

For the second practical visit they traveled to Mega portA security system designed by the U.S. Department of Energy to prevent the illicit trafficking of nuclear and radioactive materials. The Port of Valencia is the only port that controls all goods entering and leaving it.
