The REDIVEX 2001 Internationalization Forum, held by the Valencian Institute of Export (IVEX), was a great success in terms of attendance and participation of businesspeople from the Valencian Community, with IVEX delegates conducting more than 730 interviews to advise Valencian SMEs on their business opportunities in the main emerging markets.
In this regard, the general director of IVEX, Carmen de Miguel, highlighted "the eagerness of Valencian businessmen to open their products to new markets and get involved in the internationalization processes of their businesses in order to diversify their market share."
"SMEs in the Valencian Community have enormous potential in foreign markets to place their products and services in the most emerging international markets thanks to the quality-price ratio of their offers," said Carmen de Miguel.
The main areas of commercial interest about which businesspeople requested the most information were Mexico and Morocco. In fact, IVEX representatives at these offices conducted 53 interviews, respectively, with the aim of advising and informing them about the situation in these two regions.
Another area of focus was export opportunities to the US market, with a total of 118 interviews conducted. Of these, 44 requested more specific information about Los Angeles, 36 about Miami, and 38 about New York.
The Asian market also generated a significant volume of information among the businesspeople present at REDIVEX 2001. Specifically, 144 interviews were arranged, distributed as follows: 40 on Japan, 36 on Hong Kong, 35 on Shanghai, and 33 on the Beijing market.
"These figures broadly illustrate the main trends among Valencian businesses regarding their desire to expand internationally and offer their products in foreign markets. In this internationalization effort, SMEs should know that they will have the unconditional support of IVEX to pursue their ambitions of entering new markets."
