Madrid: global hub for investment and foreign trade

Our community has consolidated itself in recent years as a region with a position of leadership on the European economic map. It accounts for one out of every four euros of the foreign investment arriving in Spain, and seven out of ten have the Madrid community as their point of entry. This data reflects an incontestable reality, but Madrid does not compete solely within the national framework, but also in the league of major European capitals, London a Paris o Berlin.

The reasons for this success are not circumstantial, but structural, and, as I often say, they are not the result of chance but of causality. Our region offers legal security, institutional stability, a competitive tax system, benchmark infrastructure, and a dynamic and open business ecosystem. Added to this is a highly qualified human capital and a cultural and social environment that places our city among the most attractive in the world for living, working, and investing. Investment isn't just about numbers; it's about trust. And Madrid today is about trust.

And it's not just about volume, but about the quality of the investment. As we will show in the Madrid Investment Forum 2025 this week —in which the Madrid Chamber of Commerce participates as a sponsor—, our community attracts projects with high added value, which generate employment, drive innovation and open new markets for our companies.

Increasingly, we're also talking about impact investing: capital that seeks profitability, but also sustainability, digitalization, and inclusion. Our community is consolidating itself as a laboratory for green and technological solutions that are then scaled to European and global levels.

Investment, however, can only unleash its full potential if it is accompanied by talent. And here too, Madrid has taken decisive steps. This week we inaugurated the fifth edition of our Foreign Trade Technicians Program, promoted jointly with the Community of Madrid. This is a pioneering initiative that in just five years has trained hundreds of young people, more than 85% of whom have found employment within the first six months of completing their international stay. Many of them are already working in strategic sectors linked to the Capabilities, adding value to both large companies and exporting SMEs.

This program exemplifies the logic that must guide our future strategy: investment in talent is investment in competitiveness. Madrid needs companies with a global vision, and these companies require professionals trained to open markets, diversify clients, and position our economy in an increasingly demanding international context.

The conclusion is clear: the combination of quality foreign investment and competitive talent makes Madrid a leading global hub. From the Madrid Chamber of Commerce We reaffirm our commitment to working in public-private partnerships with institutions and companies to ensure that this leadership position is not only maintained but also strengthened in the coming years.

Madrid isn't just the place to invest. Madrid is the place where investing means transforming, innovating, and generating opportunities for a shared future.

President of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce
