Madrid and Dongguan strengthen ties to boost bilateral investment and trade

Dongguan, one of the main industrial powers in southern China With more than 10 million inhabitants, it stands out for its advanced industry in electronics, machinery, textiles and furniture, consolidating itself as an economic pillar in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Its growing interest in the European market positions Madrid as a strategic partner for generating business synergies.

The Chinese delegation was received at the Palace of Santona by prominent figures from Madrid, including Angel Asensio, president of the Madrid Chamber; Borja Fanjul, President of the Plenary Session of the Madrid City Council; and Diego de Arístegui, investment director of Invest in Madrid. Dongguan was represented by authorities such as Yan Jizong, secretary general of the Municipal Government, and Zhang Jianliang, director of the Municipal Office of Commerce.

Subsequently, a business meeting was held, where companies from both countries held bilateral meetings. These meetings focused on key sectors such as investment and development, manufacturing, technology, agriculture, logistics, and consumer goods, paving the way for future concrete collaborations.

The day concluded with an exchange of institutional gifts, symbolizing the beginning of a promising stage of cooperation. Madrid Chamber of Commerce, which has maintained an office in China since 2026, expressed optimism about this initiative, highlighting the shared interest in building stronger, more sustainable, and strategic business relationships.
