New technological paradigms are being experienced
The initiative launched by the Steering Committee aims to address the uncertainties around the Hyperloop system that still need further development.
Over the past few years, competition between traditional modes of transportation has grown considerably. Global transportation and mobility systems are already immersed in a continuous process of transformation and adaptation to the new technological paradigms that are gaining strength in the development of the railway sector.
Given this trend, and taking into account that the new disruptive technology in terms of mobility and communication systems is emerging, MAFEX, the Spanish Railway Association, has created the Spanish Hyperloop Observatory. The initiative launched by the Steering Committee aims to address the uncertainties around the system hyperloops that still need more development; To do this, it is essential to implement the great experience that the railway sector has in high speed.
The main objective is to analyze how the Spanish railway ecosystem can promote the implementation and development of Hyperloop, sometimes described by its proponents as the "fifth mode of transport".
This system is characterized by the use of a depressurized tube as a guide that allows the transport of small capsules with magnetic levitation. These capsules are driven by a linear electric motor to offer high-speed intercity transportation.
Faced with this situation, the observatory aims, on the one hand, to boost the capabilities of the Spanish railway sector, identify the lines of research and development to provide viable solutions to the different challenges, as well as support in parallel the legal framework that regulates its possible implementation. . On the other hand, through the already demonstrated experience of Spanish railway sector, the aim is to analyze technological development in the field of security throughout the system and promote the interoperability of different hyperloops at European level.
Since the hyperloops It is a complementary transport to high speed, we must recognize that it has been excellent news for the railway sector and that these challenges drive the sector to contribute all its technological developments developed in recent decades.
