For the first time, superyachts will be in Port Vell
The growth in exhibitors is the dominant feature of the upcoming Barcelona International Boat Show, which will be held from November 3 to 11 at the Gran Via venue and Port Vell. This major nautical event will host 686 companies and 2.100 boats, including superyachts for the first time.
This year's edition will have a total of 115.000 m2 net surface area and will exhibit more boats than ever before in the Gran Via and Port Vell venues, where the Floating Exhibition with large vessels will be installed.
The number of exhibitors will increase by 11% compared to last year. Of the 686 direct exhibitors, 533 are national and 153 are international. The Show will bring together all aspects of the nautical industry, from shipyards, sailboats and motorboats, sailing schools, marinas, electronics and engines, to inflatable boats, paints, sailmakers, trailers, fishing gear, jet skis, and large vessels.
At the Gran Via venue, the trade show will occupy 75.000 m² net in pavilions 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 and their outdoor areas. The show's growth and the addition of pavilion 1 to the exhibition space have necessitated the relocation of certain sectors and stands. At Port Vell, the exhibition will occupy 40.000 m² net.
220 large ships
The Port Vell Floating Boat Show will display 220 large vessels at the Espanya and Barcelona docks. New this year will be superyachts—some exceeding 40 meters—an emerging segment being included in the Boat Show's offerings for the first time. These vessels will be located at the end of the Barcelona dock, next to the World Trade Center, alongside the sailboats. The Espanya dock, meanwhile, will host the large motor yachts. To facilitate visits, a ferry service will connect the two docks.
The Port Vell exhibition will also feature the Open 60s from the Moll de la Fusta dock, which will participate in the first Barcelona World Race. This is a transoceanic competition with two crews per boat, circumnavigating the globe non-stop, covering 25.000 nautical miles.
Five areas of activity
At the Gran Via venue, the Boat Show will have five main activity areas. The presentation of regattas, books, trophies, and nautical competitions will take place in the Sea Area; dinghy sailing and water sports will concentrate their program and demonstrations in the pool that will be installed in the Fun Beach Area; schools, naval engineering firms, and yacht design centers with R&D projects will be in the Innovation Area; sea fishing enthusiasts will have their meeting point in the Fishing Area, where several casting and catching simulators will be installed; and finally, the organizations working for the recovery of maritime historical heritage will meet in the Traditional Marine Area, where schooners, pailebotes, dornas, and jábegas will also be on display.
The Salon will host exhibitions on "Piracy in the Mediterranean", on naval model making with reproductions of ships from all eras, as well as Olympic class boats and a display of art applied to kayaks.
A new edition of the Pro Am Sailing event will also take place, featuring a regatta and nautical courses; as well as the annual meeting of the International School Sailing Association (ISSA), which will bring together sailing schools from around the world. Kayak jumping demonstrations will also be held at the Gran Via venue.
To facilitate visitor access, there will be two entrances: one through the lobby of Plaça Europa and another between pavilions 4 and 6, on Carrer Botànica. The Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) trains connect Plaça Europa with Plaça d'Espanya in a five-minute journey. Shuttle buses will also be available to connect the Gran Via venue with Port Vell and the airport.
The Boat Show's new opening hours will be from 10:00 to 20:00 Friday to Sunday and from 10:00 to 19:00 Monday to Thursday. The entrance fee is €13 and free for children under 10.
