To obtain hot water, they use evacuated tube collectors and a deep well geothermal system that will also be used for cooling. Energy production will be distributed among thin-film monocrystalline photovoltaic panels that will generate 380.000 MWhe/year, parabolic panels whose Concentrated Solar Energy will generate 37.000 MWhe/year and will also be used for water desalination, waste treatment 14.000 MWhe/year and geothermal 500.000 MWhth/year (gas).
The energy generated will be used for transport, refrigeration, dehumidification and general distribution. The excess energy generated by these systems will also be returned to the national energy grid.
On the other hand, water scarcity is a reality and promoting its reasonable use is a priority for Masdar. The company intends to recycle grey and black water, as well as rainwater and dew. All this to reduce the current demand of 340 l/person/day to 80 l/person/day, after recycling all the water.
