Megasur already invoices 19% of its sales in the international market

From computer store to technology wholesaler

In this trajectory, Megasur has had the support of the Government of Andalusia, through Extenda-Andalucía Exportation and Foreign Investment.

Andalucía have a great moment in the international markets by reaching the record figure of 35.857 million euros in exports in the first ten months of 2022, with a growth of 28,8% compared to the same period of the previous year, 1.300 billion more than in all of 2021, the last record year. This is thanks to companies of international success like Megasur, a Granada company specialized in the technology sector.

Specifically, the firm focuses its activity on the wholesale sale of all products related to computing and microcomputing, from laptops to printers, all-in-one computers and other references.

The company, located in Escúzar Metropolitan Park, It laid its foundations in 1987 and since its beginnings it has managed to take a great leap to leave behind its origins as a computer products store to carry out operations as a wholesaler. “It turned out well for us thanks to our constant visits to national and international fairs in the sector and also to the commitment and trust that the big manufacturers have given us,” he explains. Fernando Izquierdo, administrator of Megasur.

The key to its success is having exhaustive control of everything the market offers. “We always go hand in hand with the manufacturer to find out what's new, because only then can you have access to the most cutting-edge technology"He says.

The Granada company has a wide client portfolio. “They are big figures abroad who, above all, sell big brands like HP, Canon, Epson. This merchandise often reaches large establishments such as Amazon, El Corte Inglés or Carrefour“Izquierdo continues.

This good work has also been transferred to the international arena. “Today, foreign trade represents 19% of our turnover. We have clients in all EU countries and in markets bordering the European Union, but also from outside, such as in China, Dubai, Morocco or Algeria", says the company administrator.

In this trajectory, Megasur has had the support of the Government of Andalusia, through Extenda-Andalusia Export and Foreign Investment. “The experience of doing work with Extenda has been very fruitful and significantly positive. The knowledge that Extenda provides is a '360 degree' contribution. "I 100% recommend that people go to Extenda, even if they have export knowledge, because it can surprise you and give you another type of vision," he says. Fernando Izquierdo.

The company is now facing a new challenge that involves “consuming our own energy produced by a deployment that we have made of solar energy, as well as storing this energy in batteries to be almost self-sufficient,” the businessman advances.

Furthermore, in the medium term, the company wants to expand its facilities, for which "we already have a land reserve of 20.000 square meters in this same industrial estate, where other large firms such as Lidl or Amazon come," he points out. “Our challenge is to grow thanks to the fact that we have more storage capacity, to buy more product and bill more,” he concludes.
