Meliá Hotels International has revealed its plans for 2025 during the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), highlighting a significant geographic expansion and a renewed focus on the premium and luxury segments. The company expects to close the year with Ebitda exceeding 525 million euros, while tourism is emerging as a crucial element for its strengthening.
Gabriel Escarrer Jaume, Chairman and CEO of Meliá, emphasised the company's commitment to maximising revenue through expansion and repositioning strategies. “The hotels of our luxury brands already represent 40% of our operating contribution,” said Escarrer, highlighting RevPar growth of over 30%.
With a presence in 13 of the 15 most visited countries in the world, Meliá closed the previous year with the opening of 19 hotels and plans to open at least another 25 during this year.
Its current portfolio includes 64% of hotels geared towards the premium and luxury segments, reflecting its commitment to qualitative and sustainable growth.
In Spain, Meliá strengthens its presence with the signing of the third INNSiDE by Meliá in Palma. In addition, it plans new openings such as I Malaga (2025) and Meliá Collection Ronda (2026). On Europe, Albania remains an important focus alongside new projects in Malta and Greece.
The expansion also extends to the Caribbean with new additions in Dominican Republic and Mexico. In Latin America, Argentina will be a protagonist with future openings such as Gran Meliá Ushuaia. Middle East emerges as a new strategic hub thanks to the regional tourism boom.
Finally, Asia Pacific not far behind; Vietnam consolidates its leadership with 22 hotels opened while Thailand and Malaysia are future objectives. The arrival in the Maldives Islands, planned for this year, is among its most ambitious projects.
