Valencian mission explores the potential of the European Biotechnology Cluster Medicon Valley

A delegation of Valencian companies and startups, organized by Ivace+i International, has concluded a study mission in Medicon Valley, the leading life sciences cluster spanning the region of Oresund across Denmark and the south of Sweden.

Ester Olivas, General Director of Entrepreneurship and Internationalization, highlighted that this action is part of the Foreign Promotion Plan of Ivace+i International, underlining the commitment of the Valencian generalitat with the international growth of these industries. "These sectors have great potential to establish fruitful collaborations beyond our borders, and we are actively working to boost their presence in international markets"Olivas stated."

Medicon Valley, recognized for its high concentration of leading companies and institutions in the life sciences sector, has become a focal point for Valencian companies. The mission gave participants the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the cluster's dynamics and explore potential avenues for commercial collaboration.

This European ecosystem stands out particularly in areas such as neurological disorders, inflammatory diseases, cancer, and diabetes. Its strength lies in the synergy between 12 universities, 32 hospitals, and a robust business network that includes more than 300 companies, including 20 major pharmaceutical and medical technology companies and 170 biotechnology companies.

Ester Olivas, Director General of Entrepreneurship and Internationalization, emphasized that this action is part of Ivace+i International's Foreign Promotion Plan, underlining the Generalitat's commitment to the international growth of these industries.

Intense Work Agenda for the Valencian Delegation

The work agenda, meticulously organized by the delegation of Ivace+i International across Nordic countries, included strategic meetings with various key entities for investment and technological development in the region.

Notable meetings include those held with Copenhagen Capacity, the Danish agency in charge of Attract foreign investment, companies and international talent; the Danish Technological Institute, focused on developing applied research for technological transformation; and Invest in Skane, the Swedish agency that advises international companies interested in investing and expanding in the Skane region.

The Valencian delegation also visited renowned science parks such as Medeon Science Park & Incubator, which houses around 60 companies in the pharmaceutical, medical technology, and biotechnology sectors, and Ideon Science Park, Sweden's first research park, which currently hosts 900 companies in the fields of biotechnology and life sciences.

As a culmination of the mission, the Valencian companies had the opportunity to present their projects and innovations at the Medicon Village headquarters, the largest life sciences park in Scandinavia, thus opening new doors for future collaborations and business opportunities in the competitive European market.
