Port Leaders Mission: Algeciras welcomes Latin American port leaders to strengthen Ibero-American ties

El Port of Algeciras has welcomed the day Port Leaders Mission, an initiative promoted by the Maritime Policy Bureau y PR Ports with the aim of strengthening ties between the Ibero-American and Spanish port communities.

 

The Latin American delegation is made up of managers from ports and companies in the transportation sector. Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Dominican Republic and Venezuela. On the Spanish side, in addition to those responsible for the Port Authority of Algeciras (APBA), have participated Chamber of Commerce, Comport Port Community, Confederation of Businessmen and Bahía de Algeciras Campus of the University of Cádiz.

 

Guimara Tuñón, executive director of the Maritime Policy Bureau, has indicated that with this initiative they seek to learn from the best practices in the sector. Among the topics addressed are the energy reconversion in Europe, the relationship port-city and the strategies of collaboration to compete.

 

The president of the APBA, Gerardo Landaluce, has exposed the relationship of competition, complementarity and collaboration between Port of Algeciras y Tangier Med, as well as the current role assumed by the Narrow in trade between North of Africa y Europe.

 

In addition to visiting facilities such as the Border Control Post (PCF) or the semi-automatic container terminal of Exterior Green Island (TTI Algeciras), the participants have participated in a round table on public-private institutional collaboration. They have also attended the presentations of the APBA Green and Innovation Strategies, the European project European Port Alliance, as well as examples of actions of port-city collaboration of the APBA.

 

Before arriving in Algeciras, the Port Leaders delegation visited the ports of Valencia, Barcelona, ​​Huelva, Cádiz and Seville, plus State Ports.

 

The Port Leaders Mission is consolidated as an important forum for the exchange of experiences and knowledge between the Ibero-American and Spanish port communities, contributing to the strengthening of relationships and collaboration in the maritime sector.
