The International Fashion Show, organised by IFEMA, welcomed around 3 professional visitors from 5 to 15.000 February, 10% more than in February 2016, of which more than 1.700 were international buyers.
MOMAD Metropolis, International Fashion Show, the great business platform, fashion and trends of the Iberian Peninsula, by IFEMA, has closed its third edition with a satisfactory commercial balance and showing a growing international appeal. Thus, the event held at IFEMA-Feria de Madrid, from 3 to 5 February, was visited by 14.854 tabsspeakers, 10% more than in February 2016. Of these, 1.721 were foreigners, which represented an increase 14,4% more respect than in February 2016.
Among the 56 countries of origin of the buyers, the presence of Portugal, France and Italy stands out. Also notable was the attendance of professionals from Latin America, the target area of the buyers' programme, together with the recovery of buyers from Russia and the Baltic republics.
In the chapter of national visitors, MOMAD Metrópolis received professionals from all regions of Spain, although it is worth highlighting a significant increase in the representation of the Basque Country, Murcia, the Canary Islands and Madrid.
New additions join the unconditional firms
These figures confirm the good acceptance of the monographic concept of the show, which is in its third edition, and which has had the participation of 900 fashion and accessories brands, whose proposals have occupied an exhibition area of 15.000 square meters, distributed between pavilions 4,12, 14 and XNUMX of Feria de Madrid. In this edition, presented, classified by sectors, the collections Fall-Winter 17/18, and Ready-to-Wear Fashion proposals for Spring-Summer 2017.
The commercial offer included unconditional firms of this fair, such as Vilagallo –award for the best stand of this edition-., Javier Simorra, Alba Conde, Morgana, Oky Coky, Scorpio, Strena, Colonel Tapioca, Matilde Cano, and The Extreme Collection, among others, as well as with new additions, such as Gloor, Vila Clothes, Freequent, Dina&Dess, Panama Hats, Zenia and Privata. In addition, they participated in this edition from MOMAD Metropolis, J&M, José Gómez Benet, Greenlandia, Corty Bennet or Banhof, among others.
Fashion From Portugal
The consolidation of the fair at an international level was also reflected in the relevant participation of firms from other countries, among which stood outn 36 brands from Portugal, 30 from France and 16 from Italy. The show also had a large representation of brands from other countries such as United Kingdom, Greece, Belgium, Netherlands, United States, Canada, Hungary, Lithuania, San Marino, Türkiye, Peru and Sweden. lollipops, Cocotier, Princes Nomade, Pho Firenze, Goa Goa and Solid were some of the international brands of this edition.

As far as Portugal is concerned, This edition of MOMAD Metrópolis had a broad representation of firms from the neighboring country, which participated within the framework of the program Fashion From Portugal, promoted by the ATP, Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal, with presence in the various sectors of the fair. Among the Portuguese brands present were Tiffosi, Ana Sousa, Lanidor, Cotton Brothers, Paulo Araujo, Vandoma, Cristina Barros, Caia, Cubosdalgodao, Collove, Maloka, A Showroom, Loco Luxo, Scripta, Univest and Concreto, among others.
New area MOMAD Sustainable
The new M areaOMAD Sustainable, presented in This edition, confirmed the fair's commitment to responsible fashion. This space was the scene of various activities and a notable commercial participation, from firms such as Slow Clothes, Puntoamano, Pamukkaleworld, Lofs, The Pez, Veganized, Skunfunk and Bricoshoe. Sustainable MOMAD It also included, un Speakers' Corner, a meeting point for analysis and debate, where different talks and presentations related to Sustainable Fashion were held.
Positive evaluation of the participating brands
At the end of This year, most of the participating brands valued their participation in the show, having exceeded their initial expectations and having made the most of their presence at the fair. This allows us to speak of greater confidence and stability in the sector and also to be able to look to the future with greater optimism, after years of economic uncertainty and a complicated last winter campaign. Some of the new features of this edition, such as the new MOMAD Catwalk, were also very well received by exhibitors and buyers.
In this line is Nora Aparicio, director of Slow Clothes, who said she was very satisfied with the development of the event, which had allowed her to close sales and expand her network of buyers. “We have seen a greater flow of visitors and a greater desire from buyers to close orders in the short term,” she said. She also gave a very positive evaluation of the setting of the pavilions, the segmentation of the brands and the creation of the new Catwalk. Marta Pinart, responsible in Spain for Yaya and Gloria Orellana, commercial of Gloor, which confirmed a greater attendance than in other editions and the establishment of new contacts trade.
Alberto Madroño, at the head of the firm Sole –for the first time at the show-, assured that MOMAD Metrópolis had fully met their expectations and even valued the result above their presence in other international trade fair circuits. Gema del Hoyo, sales representative of the firm Free-Quent, which also made its debut at the show, was pleased with the results of its participation in the fair, even though there is still a certain caution among buyers when it comes to placing orders. For her part, the designer Eba Cruz and José Antonio Campello, responsible for Blover They highlighted the support of MOMAD Metrópolis to the brands that parade on the Catwalk.
