In the “micro-SME” category

The Alicante company currently exports 80% of its production to countries on five continents.

[Img # 16542]The innovation, the export capacity, sustainability and energy efficiency within small and medium-sized businesses are annually recognized in the SME Awards, which grants the Boosting SMEs Program.

In this edition, the export award in the "micro-enterprise" category went to Muñecas Llorens , a company based in Onil (Alicante). The company's export capacity competed against companies with fewer than 10 employees and a turnover of less than two million euros.

Llorens is a small family business located in the toy valley of Alicante. Miguel Llorens belongs to the third generation of a family dedicated to making dolls like those of yesteryear: well-finished, designed to last, and with the charm of handcrafted items. Although updated and adapted to modern times, the company's manufacturing process remains essentially the same as that used during the golden age of the toy industry in Spain in the 80s. Miguel opened his company in 1995 and gradually expanded its market. Currently, 80% of its revenue comes from exports.

The awards were presented at an event held at the Rafael del Pino auditorium in Madrid, in front of more than 400 small and medium-sized companies.

Llorens explains, "The value of our dolls lies in their quality and design. We apply the latest trends in textiles and children's fashion to create each collection. Furthermore, we were the world's first manufacturer of affordable dolls."

He adds: “Trade fairs have been one of the company’s main drivers. My advice to all companies considering international expansion is to attend international trade fairs . In our case, attending the German toy fair in Nuremberg allowed us to meet many of our international clients .”

Impulsando Pymes is an initiative that promotes Spanish medium and small businesses through twelve meetings across the country.

This project emerged in 2011 as a result of the concern and commitment of a group of entrepreneurs and businesspeople from different sectors with a common goal: a commitment to the progress and future of the country, a commitment closely related to the promotion and development of medium and small businesses.
