La Murcia It is positioned at the forefront of technological transformation and business internationalization, promoting a total of 60 international cooperation agreements for its small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the last period. This initiative is part of the support provided by the Ministry of Business, Employment and Social Economy, through the Development Institute (Info), in collaboration with the prestigious network Enterprise Europe Network (EEN).
The EEN, an international network for SMEs supported by the European Commission and bringing together 600 entities from 60 countries, has been instrumental in this achievement. Joaquin Gomez, director of Info, revealed these figures during a session reviewing actions for the 2022-2025 period, where he highlighted the support provided to 507 SMEs in the region. Gómez emphasized the crucial importance of leveraging the synergies and resources of the EEN to drive the technological transformation of the regional economy, thus complementing the regional government's policies to promote innovation and internationalization.
From the beginning of 2022 to the first half of 2025, Info has provided 1.757 services to SMEs in the region, linked to the EEN Network. Of these, 182 companies have received advanced services, developing action plans that have allowed them to grow and consolidate through innovation and internationalization.
Among the most notable initiatives of this period are the two editions of the Murcia Food, a leading technology event for technology transfer in the agri-food sector, which has facilitated more than 200 technological cooperation agreements at the regional, national, and international levels. Activities have also been developed within the framework of the Caetra program in collaboration with EEN Seimed, such as the Naval Defense Industry Congress and technology transfer events at the international defense and security fair, Feindef.
They also highlight the Disruptive Technologies ForumThe event included the participation of more than 250 professionals from across Spain; Robotika, a trade fair dedicated to the latest innovations in automation; the Scale Up program, which has boosted the growth of 20 startups in the Region; and 40 contacts between regional and international entities to participate jointly in European projects. This last effort has contributed to securing more than €64 million in R&D funding for the Region from the Horizon Europe program.
The Region of Murcia is part of the EEN Seimed node, which brings together services from Valencia and Murcia. This consortium, composed of key players in the regional innovation ecosystem, including the Valencian Institute for Business Competitiveness (IVACE), the Network of Institutes of the Valencian Community (REDIT), the University of Alicante, the Valencia Chamber of Commerce, the Council of Chambers of Commerce of the Valencian Community, the European Center for Innovative Businesses of Valencia (CEEI Valencia), and the Business Confederation of the Valencian Community (CEV), works in coordination with the Info to offer a comprehensive set of specialized services in innovation and internationalization, with strategic axes in digitalization and sustainability.
Finally, Gómez emphasized the added value that Murcia-based companies enjoy through a comprehensive service from Info, which supports them from the conception of their business idea to its growth and consolidation, taking advantage of the benefits of belonging to a network as powerful as EEN Seimed. As future challenges, he highlighted the need to improve business capabilities to address the opportunity represented by the incorporation of disruptive and current technologies such as Artificial Intelligence.
