Navantia and Microsoft form an alliance to revolutionize defense with cybersecurity and AI.

 

Navantia and Microsoft have formalized a collaboration agreement that will mark a turning point in the application of advanced technologies in the field of defense. The alliance focuses on maximizing the potential of Generative AI safely and responsibly, strengthen Navantia's cybersecurity strategy, move services and data to the cloud, and develop agile mechanisms to foster continuous innovation.

 

The scope of the collaboration covers crucial areas such as talent training and retention, the development of generative AI solutions and virtual assistants, cybersecurity, digital transformation, and co-innovation. The primary objective is to accelerate Navantia's digitalization and modernization, consolidating its leadership in an increasingly technology-dependent sector.

A central element of the collaboration is the implementation of a customized program for the adoption of Copilot for Microsoft 365, designed to increase the productivity of Navantia employees and allow them to focus on tasks of greater strategic value. In addition, Navantia's own AI platform will be integrated with Navantia's solutions. Microsoft Azure, thus optimizing the use of cloud resources.

 

Navantia is positioned as one of the first companies to move its workloads to the new cloud region of Microsoft Spain Central, inaugurated in June 2024. This migration will allow Navantia to take advantage of the data center's competitive advantages, which offer high availability, scalability, and security, ensuring data residency in Spanish territory.

 

The naval company will explore the capabilities of Microsoft's generative AI solutions, establishing mechanisms to improve data management and collaborating with Spanish associations and agencies specialized in AI for the industry, such as India.

 

In addition, Navantia will benefit from Microsoft's cybersecurity solutions, reinforcing its strategy. Zero Trust with tools like Defender, Sentinel, VPN and Intune, and evaluating the implementation of Microsoft Copilot for Security.
