Andalusia TRADE organizes a multi-sector commercial meeting between eight Andalusian companies and 67 agents from Uruguay and Argentina

Andalucía TRADE has organized a multi-sector commercial meeting between eight Andalusian companies and 67 agents of Uruguay and Argentina, which took place from June 12 to 16, in Montevideo and Buenos Aires. With the agenda programmed by the Business Agency for the Transformation and Economic Development of the Junta de Andalucía, community firms have had the opportunity to develop a total of 86 B2B business meetings.

The objective of this action international promotion has been to enhance the presence of Andalusian companies in both markets America, a continent in which Andalusia broke the export record in 2022, with historical sales of 4.923 million euros and a year-on-year growth of 34%, making it the continent that made the most progress in this period. With these data, Andalusia is the community that increased its sales the most in America of the five largest exporters.

 

According to reports from Andalucía TRADE, the two countries participating in the mission emerge as destinations of opportunity for the community. On the one hand, Uruguay has a per capita income of 14.000 euros and is positioned as one of the countries with the greatest legal security, transparency and economic freedom of all. Latin America. In addition, it enjoys strong political and social stability, since the free trade agreement it maintains with Mexico makes it a gateway to a market of more than 400 million potential consumers.

On the other hand, and according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the GDP in Argentina was 4,4% in 2022 and is currently an economy that represents one of the highest growth in the region, due to the reduction of inflationary pressures that tend to stabilize its macroeconomic situation.

 

With this favorable context, Andalucía TRADE has organized this multi-sector mission in a hybrid format, in person and online, for eight firms from Seville, Córdoba, Cádiz, Granada and Jaén. Of the eight participants, four of them have participated in person, and have had the opportunity to visit the PTP Group Uruguay logistics platform in Santa Fé, the company that operates in the most important commercial port in Uruguay, where operations are carried out with larger vessels, and where the local market is supplied.

PTP Group Uruguay is a logistics group that operates throughout South America, and is mainly positioned in a natural river transport corridor of more than 3.400 kilometers that links the ports of Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay, across the rivers Paraná and Paraguay, known as the “waterway”. Precisely, this holding company has created a Cadiz logistics platform to expand its business, since the ports of Cádiz have a strategic location as a link between Latin America and Europe.

 

PTP Ibérica, which also participates in the mission, is in the midst of construction of facilities that are expected to be completed in 2027 in Puerto Real (Cádiz), which will have a refrigeration and storage plant for bulk and merchandise, as well as a ship building center.

Almost a hundred meetings

During the development of the mission, the eight companies have had the opportunity to maintain a broad agenda of individual top-level meetings, to define possible synergies with Uruguayan and Argentine commercial and institutional agents. The participating firms come from Cádiz (Consorcio de la Zona Franca de Cádiz, Establecimientos Hefe, Desarrollos Empresariales de la Zona Franca and PTP Ibérica), Granada (Euroinnova Formación), Sevilla (Aga Pharma & Supplements), Jaén (Smartfils) and Córdoba ( Aldama vibrators).

 

These firms are dedicated to logistics sector, to the auxiliary industry of agriculture, as well as research, technological development, pharmaceutical products and online education. The organization of this action by Extenda will be co-financed with funds from the European Union through the FEDER OP of Andalusia 2014-2020, endowed with a community contribution of 80%, or any other European Program that may co-finance this action.

Among the international agents participating in the meeting, organizations such as the Spanish Chamber of Commerce of Uruguay, the Undersecretariat of Agriculture of Argentina, the Chamber of Exporters of the Republic, the Association of Importers and Exporters or the Argentine Investment Agency stand out; companies such as Maritime Service Line Uruguay, Biotech Uruguay, San Rafael Agrícola, Naturfarma or MI3D Mendoza Insumos; and different Argentine universities, among others.
