OPDEnergy will build 500 MW of photovoltaic solar plants next year located in Spain, Chile and Mexico

The investment will amount to 500 million euros

The multinational will build seven photovoltaic plants in Spain, located in Extremadura, Andalusia and Aragon, which will reach a power of 300MW.

The multinational OPDEnergy -specialized in the production of energy assets and in the management of all its phases (development, financing, construction, operation and maintenance)-, will build next year 500 MW distributed in various photovoltaic solar projects located in Spain, Chile and Mexico. The volume of investment for the aforementioned projects will be approximately 500 million euros, financed under the modality of Project Finance with various financial entities.

 

Regarding the projects that OPDEnergy will build in Spain, these are seven photovoltaic solar plants that have a total of 300 MW of power and are scheduled to come into operation at the end of 2019. The aforementioned projects are located in: Estremadura, with 50 MW in the solar plant La Fernandina; Andalusia, with 100 MW distributed in two 50 MW plants located in Puerto Real (Cádiz) and Alcalá de Guadaira (Seville); and Aragon, with another 148 MW distributed among the new photovoltaic solar plants of Los Belos (Zaragoza) and Montesol (Teruel) and their respective expansions, which will add a total power of 61 MW in Zaragoza and 87 MW in Teruel.

 

 

OPDEnergy will build two parks in Mexico (144 MW), and will execute projects in Chile that will add 50 MW of power

 

 

 

On the other hand, in Chile, in the 2016 public energy tender OPDEnergy An energy block of 176GWh/year was awarded, so throughout 2019 and within the framework of said award, construction of 50 MW will begin. Aside from this, the multinational is currently developing various projects in the Chilean market, both in the field of solar energy, as well as wind and hydraulic energy.

 

In addition to the aforementioned projects in Spain and Chile, OPDEnergy will begin in 2019 the construction of two photovoltaic plants in Mexico with a total power of 144 MW. It is about the solar plant “Andalucía” with 107 MW of power and located in the State of Coahuila de Zaragoza; and a 37 MW solar plant in the State of Aguascalientes, both projects framed within the power award made by the Mexican Government in 2016.

 

The projects with which OPDEnergy account in the three previous markets (Spain, Mexico and Chile), will allow the multinational to reach a total of 500 MW built throughout 2019. In addition, OPDEnergy is developing various projects in other markets, such as United States and Italy.

 

El CEO of OPDEnergy, Luis Cid, explains that the success of closing the energy contract for more than 500 MW globally in the last two years is the result of a successful two-lever strategy. “The lever of diversification in the energy mix, betting not only on photovoltaic solar energy, but also on wind and hydraulic energy. And the lever Capabilities, which we already started in Italy where we built 49 MW, England with 74 MW built and, now, with Mexico and Chile in 2019, which will allow us to grow organically and sustainably to continue increasing our current development portfolio of more than 5.000 MW (5 GW),” he details.
