Peru's economy is in critical condition, as the pandemic not only affects the health of thousands of Peruvians, but also weakens (to historic levels) the economic foundations of a large number of households, small, medium and large companies, drastically ending the path of sustained growth that accompanied the country for more than 2 decades.

 

A few weeks ago, moreover, the Peru appointed its fourth president in 4 years. The political struggles between the Executive and Congress have led Peru to face an even more complex scenario, where the balance of powers has been weakened, with more vulnerable institutions, which generate a climate of greater uncertainty in the face of the presidential elections in April 2021, where there are more than 20 political parties that will nominate a candidate. In this scenario, a social movement led by young people has expressed its rejection of the crisis that has generated the confrontation of powers of the State, different political leaders are promoting various reforms, among them emphasizing the need for a change of constitution that may call into question the prompt return to the macroeconomic stability that Peru had before the pandemic.
