The potato trade sector is preparing for the entry into force of a crucial new regulation. From 1th October 2025, the new version of the will be applied RUCIP Regulation, a fundamental tool for resolving commercial disputes between companies.
Rules and Practices of Inter-European Trade in Potatoes (RUCIP) They are a set of rules written by industry experts to address common problems such as failure to meet agreed quality standards, non-delivery of goods, or non-payment. These rules, the first version of which dates back to 1956, have been periodically reviewed and updated to adapt to the evolution of the sector and technological advances.
The latest version in force, that of 2021, incorporated significant modifications, such as the transfer of the European Secretariat from Paris to Brussels and the creation of lists of experts (experts and arbitrators) to ensure the resolution of conflicts in countries without a national secretariat.
The technical work for the preparation of the RUCIP Regulation 2025 have been recently completed.
