OHLA, through its Industrial division, adds a new achievement to its portfolio of photovoltaic projects in Chile with the completion of the construction works of the solar park coya. The facility, located in the commune of María Elena, in the region of Antofagasta, is equipped with nearly 370.000 photovoltaic panels and has a generation capacity of more than 180 MW, which will allow it to supply green energy to 73.000 homes in the country. Its construction will help prevent the emission of around 311.000 tons of CO2 annually into the atmosphere.

The plant stands out for the use of various innovations such as bifacial module technology, which improves the efficiency of energy production, as well as an automated system for cleaning solar panels, which are more sustainable thanks to the use of robots that do not require water. .

Support for local employment and biodiversity

OHLA has contributed directly to the generation of employment, as well as to the development and revitalization of the environment in which the plant is located. Specifically, during the construction process it has created alliances with nearby municipalities, making more than 150 jobs available to residents of local communities.

Within its commitment to the environment and the protection of biodiversity, the company has promoted several actions such as the rescue plan for the specimens of wildlife that were located in the plant facilities and that were delivered to the Animal Rescue Center (CREA of the University of Antofagasta).

Also noteworthy is the initiative to donate wood and iron from the disassembly of large coils to the school for young people with special educational needs at the F-33 differential school, in the municipality of Calama.

More than 1.300 MW managed in clean energy

OHLA has in its portfolio more than 25 renewable energy projects in Europe, America and Asia. In total, they have an installed power of more than 1.300 MW, which would supply approximately 500.000 homes per year.

En Chile, a country in which it has been present for more than 40 years, in addition to the La Coya solar park, it has carried out important contracts such as the installation Photovoltaic La Huella (87 MW) and the La Estrella wind farm (50 MW).

In Spain, where it manages more than 800 MW, the company was recently awarded the construction of a photovoltaic plant in Badajoz of 130 MW. At the same time, it is advancing the execution of four projects that, together, add more than 400 MW to its renewable portfolio.
