The first of the projects, known as the “Black Cube”, will be a cutting-edge center for digitalization, science and innovation located in the city of OstravaWith an estimated budget of 50 million euros, this building with nine floors above ground and two underground will house the new headquarters of the Moravian-Silesian Scientific LibraryIts innovative design will make it an architectural landmark in the region, offering learning spaces, laboratories, technology zones, and public areas. The foundation stone of this project was laid on April 29, 2025, and its completion is scheduled for mid-2027. The project is funded by the European Union and executed by the consortium Black Rubic, formed by OHLA ŽS and Metrostav.
The second major contract is the construction of a new building for Charles University's 2nd Faculty of Medicine, located on the Motol campus in Prague. With an investment of nearly €30 million and a surface area of over 20.000 m², the new facility will integrate teaching, administrative, scientific, and student support functions. It will feature a modern clinical simulation center, laboratories, and administrative areas, enhancing the prestigious university's educational and research offerings.
These new contracts follow the recent upgrade of a section of the D1 motorway near Brno, a vital artery connecting Prague with the southeast of the country and the border with Slovakia. OHLA's presence in the Czech Republic dates back to 2003, and these projects underscore its long-term commitment to developing key infrastructure in the country.
