Opel Spain received the First Basilio Paraíso Award - Foreign Company from the Prince of Asturias

On July 8th, the first edition of the Basilio Paraíso Awards was celebrated in the Paraninfo of the University of Zaragoza.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Aragonese capital has been in charge of organizing the celebration of these awards, which were created with the objective of distinguishing the personal, social and institutional trajectory of a company, while also rewarding its social impact on Aragonese society.

These awards aim to commemorate the figure of Basilio Paraíso, a prominent figure in the social and political life of Aragon. Basilio Paraíso served as president of the Zaragoza Chamber of Commerce and Industry for 26 years and was the first president of the Higher Council of Chambers of Commerce.

The event was graced by the exceptional presence of His Royal Highness Prince Felipe, who was in charge of awarding the prize to the winner of this first edition, Opel Spain.

The car company began operations 20 years ago in Figueruelas and has since sold 7,5 million cars. However, it wasn't the sales figures that led to Opel Spain receiving the award, but rather the impact it has had on Aragonese society.

In addition to the Award, the Chamber has created the Basilio Paraíso Medal, which recognizes the merit of century-old companies in the capital and the Aragonese province.

The Prince of Asturias awarded the medal to 23 Aragonese companies that demonstrated more than a century of activity.

Among the award-winning companies are the Central Market of Zaragoza, Cafés Orús, Joyería Baena, La Zaragozana, Heraldo de Aragón, La Campana de Oro, Chocolates Lacasa, and Larraz.
