The Governing Council of Castilla la Mancha has given the green light to the appointment of Paloma Sánchez Garrido as the new director of the Institute for Foreign Promotion (IPEX). This appointment marks a milestone, as Sánchez becomes the first woman to lead IPEX in its 23-year history.
The Minister of Economy, Business and Employment, Patricia Franco, together with the new director of IPEX and the general director of Companies, Javier Rosell, appeared before the media to announce the news. Franco expressed his gratitude to Javier Rosell for his interim management at the head of IPEX, and emphasized the pivotal moment in Sánchez's assumption of the position.
"I want to thank Javier Rosell for the work he has done during all this time at the head of the IPEX"And the entire team of professionals that make up the Institute for Foreign Trade Promotion for their work and dedication at all times, and also during this interim period, in which we have confirmed the highest foreign trade figures in the history of our region," he declared. The advisor also outlined the immediate challenges for the new director: "This year the current one ends Strategic Internationalization Plan of the region, and we have already started working with the team on the design of the new plan, which will be released at the beginning of next year, and in which Paloma will be able to leave her mark."
Franco highlighted the importance of the female perspective in governing bodies, noting that the majority of management positions in her department are held by women. She also mentioned the upcoming edition of «Internationalize Woman» in Guadalajara, an event that highlights the role of women in the international expansion of regional companies.
For her part, Paloma Sánchez expressed her gratitude for the trust placed in her and her enthusiasm for taking on this new role. "I am very excited to embark on this new journey in a field I know well: international trade," Sánchez stated.
